Ministerial Statements

(i) Minister of Lands and Parliamentary Reforms and Chief Government Whip, the Hon. Gayantha Karunatileka made a Ministerial Statement regarding the Lankadeepa news article regarding his ministerial portfolio

(ii) Hon. D. M. Swaminathan, Minister of Prisons Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs replied to the Questions raised by the Hon. Douglas Devananda under Standing Order 23(2) of the Parliament on 08.02.2017 regarding the Basic Infrastructure issues faced by the people at Karadipuval village in Trincomalee District and on 05.05.2017 regarding the Resettlement of persons displaced due to the war in Uyilamkulam


Presentation of Bills

The Hon. Gayantha Karunatileka, Minister of Lands and Parliamentary Reforms and Chief Government Whip presented the Bill entitled

“Code of Criminal Procedure (Special Provisions) (Amendment)”

to amend the Code of Criminal Procedure (Special Provisions) Act, No.2 of 2013.


Adjournment Motion

Adjournment Motion on “Granting of Lands in Monaragala and Bibile to a Private Company” was proposed by the Hon. Anura Dissanayaka.


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1744 Hrs. until 1030 Hrs. on Friday 26th May 2017.
